Fall in Love with Shoes

It's shopping season as everyone prepares for the fall and winter! Due to the summer-like weather in September, this may be the last time this year those precious sandals see the light of day.
Here are some shoes I've seen online that I particularly like.

Quisa 01 Burn Pu Heel

These shoes are very simple, and the burnt mustard color is matchable with many colors.

Quisa 01 Red Heel

These are the same as above, but in a much flirtier color. Red kitten heels spice up the basic jeans-and-t-shirt combination.

Gabriella Rocha 1485 Fabia

With its small point and low heel, these shoes are very simple, comfortable, and subtly sexy.

Made by Elves Lennon Leather Skimmer

These shoes, like the Quisa 01 shoes, go well with many combinations. They are also cute and flat, which makes walking easy.

Bandana Bandit

These shoes are sexy and cute, as well as easy to walk in. They are very unique as well.

WINKLEPICKERS

Sadly, these are available only in men's sizes, but hopefully as the rise of the Winklepicker continues to gain momentum, women's sizes will appear. The buckled ones are the cutest and give a simple dress a very tough feel.

That's all for now! Enjoy your week and have a nice day.

Be KANYE?! WHY?! Also, Android Phones?!

SO, I've been doing the usual ride around town, staring at anything to avoid another passenger's eyes. It's been a couple of weeks and I have to say this.

photo taken by DIRKDARKROOM

I DON'T WANT TO BE KANYE!

Would you like to be Kanye? Is he really worth being? A man who has given us such hits as YOU SHOULD THANK GOD I'M PERFORMING FOR YOU and STOP PLAYING THE MUSIC, SRSLY is now a role model for us! Let the narcissism begin.
In all seriousness, I don't know where they were going with this campaign. I think that using Mr. West may backfire. People want to be less like him. Do you want to be seen as a Besides the fact that he has money, he's not THAT awesome. Maybe he gets paid to act that way. You know how hollywood is CRAZY!

Meanwhile, we are also PATIENTLY AWAITING THE ANDROID PHONE!

T-Mobile is said to have released its 3G here in New York City, and I can't feel it because i still have my lovely Samsung D900!
I'm stuck between these three:

SE Xperia X1

Samsung TOCCO, A.K.A. F480

HTC G1 [Android Phone]

None of these have a price tag yet, but who cares? I've been waiting for years to upgrade and T-Mobile has really stepped up its game! FINALLY!!!

In other news, CHECK OUT OUR ADORABLE SHIRTS! Available in many colors and styles!

Welp, peace out ya'll!!! ^-^

Tight Clothes Don't Make you Cooler or Sweat Less!

Okay, so I've been riding on the train and I've seen a lot of people walking around in tight clothes.  They make my eyes burn and I don't really appreciate it. I know it's hot and all, but many people lose their sense of decency as soon as the summer hits.

Here is an example of what I see on the train:

AWKWARD.
So, I decided to research whether tight clothes make you sweat more or less.  I mean, I think it'd trap the sweat in your body, making you more sticky and nasty while people try to avoid looking at you.  Here's what I found.

"For instance, tight fitting clothing will make it difficult for the sweat to dry out whereas wearing loose fitting clothing will help the air to circulate and your sweat to dry off faster."

"Loose-fitting lightweight cotton clothing is best because it allows air flow in the hot humid climate. Tight clothing tends to make you sweat more and can get uncomfortable, as will synthetics like nylon. T-shirts and tank tops are the perfect wear for out-doors and are best worn untucked, allowing air to circulate. You are going to sweat!"

Well, it looks like tight clothing is completely obsolete.  So, if you think rolling up your shirt will do anything for you, all it will do is expose more of your body to heat.  Instead, try shoving a nice, well-fitting white shirt over your body like this lady here.

Thanks, and stay safe.  This is an announcement from your local Chotpy.

Travel

WELCOME TO NEW YORK!

I yell that every time I see people who are obviously tourists.  They're cute when they don't squat and take obnoxious pictures.

I've been constantly waiting for the Android phone.  T-Mobile, who recently rolled out there 3G in the big city, is supposed to have the first Android phone.  T-Mobile also recently expanded their service areas.  Even so, there are still a lot of dead spots, especially in everyone's favorite bookstore, Barnes and Noble.  I have to walk around looking for service in there!

In other news, I've found a fun new shop!
It's got fun stuff relating to Japanese culture such as gyaru, gothloli, and DRAMATIC CHIPMUNK!!!

click here or the above logo to check it out!

Woo!  Go support those young artists out there!

While you're at it, go here and support the fine youngins here at BAPie!

Courtesy?

Why don't people automatically leave one turnstile open for those who need to swipe in?  Today, I missed my train because of this.  I'm pretty sure it's smart and considered courteous to do such a thing, but maybe we expect too much of the world.

I wonder the same thing when older people and women with bags are left standing on the train while younger guys sit there.  Maybe I expect too much, but I know that back in the old days, it was gentlemanly to give your seat up to  your elders and those in need.

When is a Target store coming to Manhattan?  There's one in Brooklyn, Queens, and in the Bronx.  Why isn't there one on 42nd Street [where they love to advertise]?  It has confused many and wasted money on train fare.  Maybe Target wants to lose money to Duane Reade and every clothing shop in that area.

Speaking of Target, I want to check out their Converse One Star Straight Leg jeans.

They look comfortable and I've been wanting some low-rise straight legs for about a year.  I'm usually ahead of the fashion scene.  My favorite looks recently have been girly pinks combined with semi-loose denim and bold sneakers.  Here are some examples:

Thanks to Sushi-Cat.net for the scans.

This style's not TOO popular in the US yet, though I've seen more girls dressing TOTALLY like guys [it's very awkward, you end up staring, trying to figure out whether they're a girl or not].  A mix of both is very cute IMHO.

Well, I'm all talked out, so ♣ PEACE! ♣

the chronicles of an ocean

So i haven't existed in a while...i do apologize....lol...but here i am and ill be here....

So i got a helio..IT ROCKZ!!!!...the plan is pretty cheap for what im getting. 500 mins for $65 a month, and everything else is unlimited. internet, you tube, texting, video and picture messaging...all that good stuff...lol...and the phone is awesome....it the only phone that slides out in 2 directions....to a full keyboard and the regular phone key pad....its awesome

Also i have a small suggestion....dont always buy wats in style...i mad that mistake and it chomped my ass.....hard....i brought this coat that was in style in my hood...thing is...those jackets are expensive....so i looked around cause i wanted to find it for cheaper.....i did...and it was the nest coat....it was lined with fur in the hood....i miss it...but it sprung a leak on me....lmaos....2 to be honest...it wasn't fun...i felt like a sponge cuz it rained so hard...my "wee wee" was soaked...not a great feeling when its 20 degrees out....lol. so make sure that if your buying something that will be used often, choose comfort durability as oppose to style....

Cloverfeild was awesome...honestly....i loved it..but it is not for those who get motion sick....the camera is very shaky but it adds to the perspective and the over all mood of the movie....personally i want it on dvd...but i wouldn't mind seeing it again...lol

I'm getting published in my schools newspaper.... so this a step up from always doodling in my note book....lol.....

this is my homie V.bio...lol

and this is what i do in psychology....

To sum it all up...lifes been up and down.....money struggles....school...the subway....but as long as theres friends....and more...lol.....you can make....(insert cheesy music here)

Dont forget to pull your pants up....SEAN.K

LATENESS!

OH CRAP I JUST SAW BOTH OBAMA & HILARY'S CAMPAIGN COMMERCIALS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE SAME COMMERCIAL BREAK!  SuPeR TuEsDaY Is cOmInG!!!!!

It's been a cold, cold week. However, you can still look hot in this chilling weather! My favorite thing to wear this winter is a long sweater that ends around the middle of the thigh. There are many available at Forever 21 for good prices, as well as the Boyfriend Cardigan from GAP.

FOREVER 21

GAP's Boyfriend Cardigan

These are all intensely comfortable!

It was my local Californian friend's birthday this week! GO HIM! Dance in his Californian house! Here are some pictures of a sleeping man on the 6 train to celebrate his day.

He started out leaning over on his bag.

He randomly woke up and then laid his legs on the chair. WTF?

At least he was comfortable, I guess...
Don't emulate this guy. The other half of the car was full.

I'm not alone in my disliking of the MTA! Turns out that my good friend THRILA also recently experienced some subway hardships.

I hate you MTA Okay, no big surprise, who doesn't right? But today- how am I stuck on the train for a half-hour longer than normal hunched over like an old man with serious arthritis?! I don't know what's been going on with the trains as of this week, but it seems like everything goes wrong on the week that I go to class by myself. I couldn't even take in a breath without having my chest be some perv's arm rest. And it seems like everyone wanted to read my id number off of my bristol pad this morning. My idiotic fault for writing it there in the first place, but what the heck do those numbers mean to anyone else not going to the same school as me? nothing! so stop reading it, isn't not some code for you to go to work and decipher on your lunch break, nor is it some l33t message that I am trying to tell the whole world. It's my id number... that's it.

BUAHAHA! Please give us better service soon, MTA!

I shall leave you with a fun store window located on 23rd & Lexington!

HOO HAH!

Men and Pink

Yo, yo!  I've been gone for a bit 'cause I got consumed with art projects and the like!  However, I am back from outer space, and I'm walkin up in here with a sad look upon my face.  You should've changed that stupid lock...
Anyway, men and pink.  I dunno.  Maybe I'm old fashioned, but seeing those two together kinda weirds me out.  Imagine seeing a buff dude in a pink hat like this one.

I thought he looked doofy, but he's got confidence, so I guess he pulled it off[?].  I also saw a guy in pink Nikes and cap.  It was interesting, I only knew he was a guy because he had a manly face.  The line between man and woman continues to blur.  I can't tell women from men much anymore either, since so many have fallen in love with clothes 30 times their size.  Maybe one day, men [again] will be in the skirts while the women walk around in powersuits negotiating big business issues.

Nah.

In other news, there's a new piece of artwork on the 6 line.  It reminds me of the good old days at Coney Island, when the boardwalk wasn't a deathtrap and the sand was clean [okay, it's never been clean].

You go, MTA's favorite artist.

Ima, I shall leave you with a weird LEGO dude I found.

He looks like a weirdo with his sleveless tux.

Peace and chicken grease!

20th Post!

Happy 20th post!!!

Let's get down to business!

♥ FASHION ♥

You know that played-out idea of wearing pants under the boo-tay?  This guy here didn't get the message that pants go over the butt.

Dear men of New York the World,
Please pull up your pants.  No one needs to see you gluteus-infused muffin top.  it's great that your underwear is black and all, but please, for the sake of the children, pull up your pants and keep them there.

Thanks,
All Fashionable Humankind

I also saw a dude with funky shoes.  The rest of his outfit had NOTHING to do with the genre of fashion that these shoes came from.  The silver print on the black leather shoes stood out compared to the monochromatic sneakers.

Shabow!

Yesterday, there were a lot of seagulls in Harlem.  It was awkward.  I've always been wary of them because they are prone to crapping on you when you least expect it.  They should be called crappergulls or something, the evil bums...

Global warming is in full effect, bringing us rain tomorrow and highs way above normal.  Rain in January, who would've thought that'd happen?

...I miss 1997, when  it snowed in January and Michael Jackson wasn't accused of giving children Jesus Juice.  Those were the days~

Until next time,  your local hostess with a large amount of city-related knowledge,
Chotpy ♥

It's Cold Outside...

Okay, it's disgustingly cold. I guess it could be worse, as Sukanaya said on the CW11 Morning News. There could be a foot of snow out there. Still, at wind chills around 3 degrees, I think New York has a right to complain.  It was so cold outside, people kept their hats, gloves, earmuffs, and scarves on while riding the train. It was comfy, but still.

I saw some cool shoots[shoe+boots] as well. The shoots are available at Payless right now. They're cute.  Unfortunately, it's not on the website so they're probably in the clearance aisle now.

I received wonderful sneakers this morning.  After scouring about 10 websites, I found the perfect red skate shoes to replace my decrepit 4-5 y/o ones.  Here they are in all their shoe-y glory.  Gravis Lowdown Hi-cuts.  ~$60 on Shoes.com/Amazon.com.  These are the women's ones, but they also have men's ones.

I think they're funderful shoes.  I gave them a run today, they fit well.  I'm not really going to skate in them as much as I'll be playing DDR in them because they'll prevent me from slipping[skate shoes are good for arcade versions of DDR because of the good grip].  Good advice: it's best to order a half size up with any shoes you order online.

And now on to the more weird parts of today!  My buds and I got bored and decided to scour the lands of 86th Street!  We entered Circuit City with the intention of playing demos.

WE SUCCEEDED!!!

Here is a fun clip of the Prince[Katamari Damacy] dancing to Justin Timberlake's SexyBack[they played his entire album].

There were also other oddities including a random lady who screeched at us while we walked by.  Sadly, I didn't have the time to whip out my phone, as she proceeded to cross the street as if she had never screeched at us.
Oh yeah, if you're ever bored and there are Legos in the area, make some cool stuff out of them and send it to us.  That stuff is hella cool.  Here's my PAC MAN!

It took me a lot of yellow pieces and a lot of moving children to complete it, but it was TOTALLY worth it.

Last but not least, there's an awesome group of people who give out sandwiches, soap, deodorant, etc.  It makes me glad to see generous people out there to do something.  Hopefully they'll form a huge charity that goes on the train and does this, but it's good to at least see someone do it.

Now, I shall leave you with a sweet quote from a random dude on the train.

To a man who is slowly walking through the train with a coffee cup:
"Whaddya want, a quarter, buddy?  You got the cup!"

I did it for the lulz,

Happy New Yeah!!!

Well, it's a new year, and with that, there come new goals!

Chotpy's resolutions for BAPie are:
1) To get an obscene amount of pageviews.
2) To gain a loyal group of readers!
3) To get lots of comments, because she loves reading opinions of others~
4) To change the world somehow!

I wonder what Seanny and Goodvibes' goals are~

On to other things.  I've always wondered if the unlimited Metrocards bought from the machines start the day you buy them or the day you USE them.  I really need to know because I hate paying more for those things.

While weight loss is usually the number one resolution, I've heard that saving money has topped the list this year.  So, Chotpy has decided to point out a few places to get cheap eats and fashions in New York City.

FOOD.
• Polash Indian Restaurant.  2179 3rd Ave.  NY, NY.  [212]410-0276
Hella good food.  I suggest the Garlic Naan, the Tandoori Chicken, and any kind of Curry.  It's such an amazing place to eat and is never crowded.  Great service as well.  Near the M101/103.  It's near 116th, I believe it's between 118th and 119th.
• Kiraku Japanese Restaurant.  1948 Williamsbridge Rd.  BX, NY. [718]379-8866
Really good!  They deliver and everything.  It's one of the few Japanese restaurants in the Bronx and their fish is delicious.  The edamame's good too!  The service is pretty good depending on how decisive you are [ ^-^;] but it you pretty much know what you want, it's all good.  You can take the 8 bus there.  It's really obvious because the front of the store is red.
• Au Bon Pain.  There's a bunch of them everywhere, dude..
Pretty good bread, which is obvious by the name.  Good selection of soups, but you can get cheaper fruits at the fruit stands...
• Subway.  Also all over, but some are cheaper than others.
The Subway near Union Square on 14th Street gives a 10% student discount.  They also have the calories next to most of their stuff, which makes you more aware of what you're eating...
• Tasty Dumpling.  54 Mulberry St.  Chinatown, NYC.
Almost every restaurant in Chinatown is cheap.  This one makes the most awesome dumplings.  Sometimes the service can be a little rude, but overall it's alright.  There's also another dumpling place around the corner that makes fried pork dumplings, but the service tends to be worse there and there's no place to sit.  However, there's more of a menu at Tasty Dumpling and there's 3 tables.  Huzzah!
• Egg Custard King Cafe.  2 locations in Chinatown, closer one is 76 Mott St.  Chinatown, NYC.
Intense portions, TINY price.  The food's good, the menu makes you giggle [Horlick's and Chicken Ding lol].  What's not to love?  Go!  Share with your friends!  It's a nice place.  Try to sit away from the glass; the slamming noise gets annoying.
• Silk Road Cafe.  30 Mott St.  Chinatown, NYC.
Good bubble tea and muffins.  They have grapes, too.  They hold karaoke on Friday nights, so you can get your groove on while eating.  Also an internets cafe.

SHOPPINGS.
•Nearly Everything in the Elizabeth Center, Chinatown.
There's an amazing amount of giftables and a few clothing stores with a nice selection.  Some of the shoe prices are painful, but about the same as Foot Locker in most cases.
• 5.7.9, Mandee, Strawberry's.  Locations around the city.
There is one on 105th Street and 3rd Ave.  Sales are good.  Women's clothes only.
• Forever 21.  One known location in Union Square [14th Street]
Good prices, cute clothes.  What's not to love?  Women's clothes only.
• The Salvation Army.
That place is a GOLD MINE.  You can find rollerblades for $15, shirts for $5, and exercise tapes for less than $5!  There are locations throughout NYC.  Go!
• Goodwill.  Locations throughout NYC.
Prices are a bit higher than the Salvation Army, but also really good!!!  Lots of good T-shirts with fun slogans on them and cute skirts.
• Target.  2 known locations, Brooklyn [around Atlantic Ave.] and the Bronx [by the 1 train on 225th St.]
Great selection of clothes, food, and electronics.  Near lots of other great stores such as Marshall's.
•Pay Half.  Locations throughout NYC.
You literally pay half [or less] in most cases.  Good sales as well, lots of gift selections.  Good balance of men's and women's clothes.

If anyone has more suggestions, leave a comment!

HAPPY NEW YEAHHHH!

love, chotpy

Horrible Weather, America's Smartest Model, + Fashion!!!

Wow, so I'm totally disappointed in who won on America's Most Smartest Model...  I wanted Ruski to win 'cause he was cute.  I do admit that his attitude was a car accident.  Still, I would wreck that dude if I were 10 years older.

WRECK!!!

In other news, the weather is crap.  How do you keep warm and fashionable?  Hmmm...  There's nothing left to do but shop!!!!!
I've noticed a lot of people wearing fur coats and hats this year.  Here are some cute fur options~

Fuzzy bomber hats are very cute.  you can find them in many colors and styles online or in Chinatown...

I have also seen many people in these fur coats...I know they can be acquired around 34th street.

Honestly, I'm an advocate of not raping the skin off of an animal, so I stick to the faux fur.  It's cheaper and just as cute.

The skinny jean trend has been going on for a long time, which makes me wonder about what the next trend will be.  I feel like all these constant changes are crazy and like New York doesn't step up its game as much as other fashion cities.  Places like Paris and Korea have some serious street style, though I do admit that Koreans tend to go too crazy with the heels.

If I were living in Korea, I'd end up being a B-girl and walk around like this all day:

I decided to look at some horrible fashion donts from Hiphoper while I was there gettin' the above pic.

First off, I have never liked New Balance sneakers.  The front of their sneakers have never gotten along with me...I know they're not fashion sneakers, but people wear them as if they are and it ruins their outfit!
Secondly, this child knows she needs to throw that sweater in the dryer about 30 times and cut that shirt down to size.  And that hat makes her head look like a mushroom...
As Andre 3000 says in "Hey Ya", I'm just being honest...

NUMERO DOS:

I have to go YBF on this lady.

THIS IS SOME SERIOUS KOREAN FOOLYWANG!  What is this lady wearing?!  Seriously, leggings are not pants, and they look worse on anyone who doesn't have the legs for it.  She looks like a grandma from the '80s with that shirt.  The bangs don't compliment her face either and she needs smaller glasses.

FYI, if you want to pull off leggings as pants, try a sweater dress such as these:

They're both from Forever 21 (online and in store--there's one on Union Square if you were wondering).  The red one is $22.80; the gray one is $17.80.  These are much more flattering than a shirt that comes above the waist when wearing leggings because leggings make every part of your crotch area intensely obvious.

One more fashion faux pas from Hiphoper:

WHYYYYYYYYY?!

Well that's all for today!  Enjoy sloshing around in what's left of snow!

I Like Batman, Shoes, and...La La La...?

There's a lot of fashion hidden from the pages of The Sartorialist.  I just have to get the courage to ask the fashionistas if I can shoot some pics of them.  For now, I have some SHOES!  Yay.
I found this one on 110th Street.  Nice.  I love the way it looks buttoned, but they're a bit too high for my tastes.
If I were taller, I'd attempt.

Then I saw this guy at 149th Street (Bronx) with some gray/lime green sneakers with striped matching laces.
You go, child.

In other news, I have respect for a man who held the doors for people who were 6 miles away from the train.  This dude holds the door for 30 seconds, some dude runs in and he lets go.  The dude APOLOGIZES!  I couldn't be mad at him for that.  Some guy yells, "Superman!  You should wear an 'S' on your chest!"
The dude responded, "Thanks.  I like Batman more."

And last, but not least,  I GRIPE!

Today, I secretly kick those who exit a train downstairs, slowly climb the MTA stairs, and make people miss the train upstairs.  I KICK YOU!!!  YARRR!
~Chotpy
